trying to upgrade to the latest version of #mastodon on our other server and HOLY SHIT is this a pain in the ass.
"optional" dependencies that aren't fucking optional (libvips) AND required a version was newer than anything in apt-get so I had to go through a whole long thing to install from source. Then a newer version of nodejs was needed than existed in apt-get (arrrgh)
Then having to "just know" how to deal with fucking Yarn
HATE THIS
SO glad @mastohost manages this server.

The big issue I have is the phone apps. I'm intrigued by the alternative phone platforms but things like your banking app, #EV charging app etc will not work on non-ios/google systems.

This is the situation how we do sleep while at night with no provided shelters nor mattress,while at night we are being attacked by some dangerous insects such as snakes and scorpions which are very dangerous to us.
