Undrar om mastodont är så bra egentligen. Försökte byta server, som skulle vara så enkelt, och då försvann de få kontakter jag hade. Inte särskilt imponerad. Och det är pinsamt snål teckenbegränsning. Ett socialt nätverk kan inte vara hur uselt som helst bara för att det är icke-amerikanskt . #mastodon

#Mastodon GmbH è diventata membro del W3C, il consorzio che sviluppa e mantiene gli standard del web aperto, ActivityPub incluso. Il team ha già partecipato al primo incontro del Social Web Working Group, il tavolo dove si discute l’evoluzione dei protocolli su cui si regge il fediverso.
La notizia è positiva, ma sorge spontanea una riflessione: Mastodon è già di gran lunga il software più diffuso del fediverso, con una base utenti che non ha paragoni rispetto a Pixelfed, Misskey, Pleroma o PeerTube. Avere ora anche una presenza diretta nel gruppo che definisce gli standard potrebbe tradursi in un’influenza sproporzionata sulle scelte tecniche future, a scapito degli altri progetti che implementano ActivityPub in modo diverso, spesso più sperimentale o più fedele a certi principi di decentralizzazione. Non è detto che vada così, ma è una dinamica che vale la pena tenere d’occhio.

Auto-translation on #Mastodon: a love-hate relationship.
I can sort-of read most Nordic, Germanic and Romance languages -- enough to pick up the gist. I can't read Slavic, Finno-Ugric, or anything from outside Europe. Reading languages I'm not familiar with is a muscle which weakens if I don't use it.
Autotranslate enables me to read a lot of content on Mastodon in languages I genuinely can't read, but it also makes me lazy about exercising that muscle.

Like ⭐️ って他人に見せるアクティビティーではなくてその投稿主に対しての文字通りのリアクションであるべきで、それが自分をフォローしているタイムラインに出てしまったらリポスト（ でいうブースト）というアクションがある意味がない
