Mastodon boost/fav/reply #bookmarklet idea:
Add following bookmarklet, named eg. "boost/fav/reply" to your browser bookmark toolbar:
javascript:(function() {location='https://mastodon.social/search?q=' + location.toString();})()
Just change mastodon.social for your actual home instance, where you are logged in all the time. Eg. for me it is:
javascript:(function() {location='https://f.cz/search?q=' + location.toString();})()
If you are viewing original URL of ActivityPub status outside of your instance, which means, that you are not logged in and cannot boost, fav or reply, clicking on this bookmarklet will just open the same status "locally", where you are logged in.
Tested in #Firefox at least with #Mastodon and #Friendica statuses and it seems to work as intended. I used to copy+paste URL to my home instance search box, but this is single click solution.
I wonder if there is way for web site to offer you installing bookmarklet automagically (it would be probably insecure?)

The Home button always takes you to the top of the Mastodon feed, so you read the posts in reverse order. Is there a way of marking where you left off, so you can read posts in the order they are posted?

You do not have to use Mastodon through its official mobile app!
There are many other ways of using your Mastodon account, and most people who try the alternatives tend to prefer them.
The most popular alternatives are third party apps and your server's own website. These tend to have more features and faster updates. You can find out more at:

Want to contact the admin of a Fediverse instance? Here’s a quick way to find them.
Most servers publish their admin contact details on the /about page of their domain.
For example:
https://mastodon.social/about
There you can usually find the admin’s email address and Fediverse handle.
You can also see the details for our Fedicate Social instance here:
https://social.fedicate.org/about
(Even though it's a Sharkey instance, the page works the same way.)
