Reporters, if you're going to report on the number of users on #Mastodon, stop using the statistics of 1 server 's reach to represent "all of Mastodon". Servers can choose not to federate with others, and such servers won't be able to count each other's users. Mastodon.social was defederated by many who disliked its open-to-anyone policy and its stance on Threads.
The truth is that "how many users does Mastodon have" is hard to answer. Which Mastodon? Are you counting Gab or Truth Social?

Gibt es bereits Projekte, die versuchen, eine ganze Stadt in das Fediverse zu umzutopfen - nicht aus der Perspektive der Verwaltung, sondern aus der Perspektive der Zivilgesellschaft?
Wir überlegen, so etwas in Flensburg auf die Beine zu stellen. Ich denke auch, dass wir dafür generell Konzepte brauchen, falls eine Stadt am Anfang nicht so interessiert am Fediverse ist.
Ich kenne graz.social. In unserem Fall denke ich eher an einen Zusammenschluss von Organisationen und Einzelpersonen, die zunächst mit Veranstaltungen neue Organisationen gewinnen und dann versuchen, normale Bürger einzubinden.
Mit einem Dashboard (Website/App), das aus verschiedenen Fediverse-Diensten alle Informationen an einem Ort aggregiert. Es sollte Inhalte wie eine Liste/Karte von Organisationen, eine Übersicht von Veranstaltungen, eine Übersicht über Inhalte mit dem Hashtag #flensburg (mit etwas Moderation), FAQs, Informationen und lokale Veranstaltungen zur Einbindung neuer Leute sowie Offline-Flyer und Plakate/ Aufkleber/ Info Monitore? bieten. Dazu eine Übersicht der besten Angebote von https://flensmarkt.de/.
Quasi ein föderiertes „nebenan” mit dem Ziel, Menschen zu zeigen, was es schon im Fediverse gibt, und ihnen Lust zu machen, dort auch mitzumachen.
