Laut Foto junge Frau, die einem schreibt und sich für einen interessiert und so, nun auch auf #Mastodon - Ähnlich bei #Bluesky erlebt, und Screenshot gepostet, wie innerhalb von Tag so Dutzend angeblich Frauen geschrieben hatten. Dort und hier, in Englisch.
Meinem Verständnis nach, gibt es online schon beachtliche Anzahl an sogenannten Romance Scams, bzw. Pig butchering Scams, die sich von Catfishing* ableiten.

So I was looking for another #Mastodon server to use and came to learn some servers have less than 10 users, yet, servers are all connecting to each others — even to servers with 10K+ users
If you don’t find this as charmingly humanized as it is going to get in this extremely technologically saturated world, I don’t know what to say

Anyone who has an account over on BlueSky, I would like to ask if you could please get word to the moderators that I’ve been trying to stop my posts from #Mastodon being bridged there - I deleted the bridge - but strangely posts are still appearing there.
I no longer have access to log into BlueSky & all attempts to regain access have failed. Please ask that they suspend the account on BlueSky that is still being bridged, my posts are now being shown on BlueSky without my consent.

The inspiration for writing BEER POUR came from my days in Hollywood. I once worked with a psychopathic commercial director, and then right after, worked with a very gentile man of Japanese descent. They were both at the top of their game, directing TV commercials. Polar opposites achieving the same goal in the same field was interesting to me. Where else does that happen: Politics. I made filmmaking and politics collide for one nutty week in Hollywood, in my novel BEER POUR, when the U.S. Vice President enlists the help of two bitter rivals, the psychopathic director and the gentleman, to aid in high-stakes international diplomacy. So I discovered that #digitalocean had blocked certain ports for #smtp. As I didn’t keep with up with my email….alright I deleted them…I didn’t know and just noticed my #mastodon server wasn’t sending emails. Hasn’t for several months.
We used our own domain to handle smtp but that can’t be done any more.
After looking at all the recommendations and getting massively confused I ended up going with #postmark.
All the steps and configuration etc will be put up on my #Wiki samadam.au/mastodon. I’m documenting things now in a place I can find instead of crappy word like documents. I did that with our family tree and it works like a treat.
Cleaning things up and learning to do things properly is going well.

I love #mastodon dearly, but this will always remain a glaring weak point for it. People do not want to join a network and then hear it has immediately been abandoned. Sure, those of us who enjoy a little geeking out have no issue moving to another server, or even hosting our own, but the average person will peace out.
