Twitter がどんどんアレになっていく中で、Discord とかクローズドな場所に軸足を移した人たちもいて、自分はそういう人たちと結構近い価値観も感じたりする。
自分は #Fediverse

が今のところ主な居場所だけど、それは自分で Discord サーバー立ち上げるだけの甲斐性がなかったのと、もともと #Vivaldi 
とかWeb 標準 
とかに思い入れがあったかここに居付いただけで、
そもそもバズるとかアルゴリズムによるモデレーションとかそういうものから距離をとったというだけなんだろうなあと今になれば思う。
Discord とか Slack みたいな場所で、時系列じゃない For You チャンネルとかアルゴリズムによるモデレーションとか欲しいかな？いやいらないでしょ、という感覚に近いかも

昨日久しぶりに半日を掛けて、#Mastodon インスタンスのバックアップを行った。
メディアが80Gぐらいになっているので、/public/system/ の tar backup に時間もかかるし、backup 容量もほとんど80G(圧縮率が悪い）と大きかったのでストレージの空容量を食い尽くしかけた。
今後は、/public/system/chache/は除外したbackup にしないと運用できない感じである。

Threading in #Mastodon is pretty clunky I agree. I can't remember much about it, but in old-school #twitter there was an obvious "Continue" or "Next" button for threading. The server I'm currently on has a much larger char limit so it has not been an issue. The main reason I thread anything is for topics like travel logs that unfold over time.
Then there's just being kind to your readers... keep things simple, short, and concise. An ideal I am sometimes not able to achieve even with good intentions. 🙂
