what I would like to see from the #fediverse is a neighborhood feed that sits between the local and global feed.
As an admin I’d like to promote some servers as being part of the neighborhood, and make that the default view.
This might exist, but why search when you can post.
This sounds like a fun project to try regardless.

I have several app ideas where some sort of Mastodon integration sounds fun, like publishing a photo or seeing public posts using a certain hashtag. Instead of reimplementing the same, necessary but boring, steps of signing in a user and storing their secrets over and over, I decided that a small Android library might be sensible.

If you want to use this feature, make sure that you are on a #Mastodon instance that updates fairly regularly.
My previous instance, for example, was stuck on 4.2, and the admin made clear that he had no interest in putting in the effort to maintain it further.
You can see your current version on the bottom of the web page. If the version is too old, you might consider migrating to a new instance. Sure, your old posts will remain on your old instance - but your connections and bookmarks will move with you.
