I posted a test message to #fediverse from the website I'm currently building. It appeared on Fediverse just fine, but after a while, the image was replaced with a link. It seems that when platforms like #mastodon detect updates—such as after a "like" or other interaction—they refresh the post and replace the image with a link.

It seems that the increasingly deranged President of the US has posted (on his own social media site) an extremely graphic video of a man murdering a woman with a hammer.
It is not blurred or mitigated in any other way. It is going viral across other platforms, and inevitably will be seen by kids. Hopefully it won't make it onto this platform, or if it does then I trust that those sharing it here are dealt with swiftly and decisively. Dark times.
