I want a #mastodon client that shows blocking events publicly. I want to know when my friends block another user, so I can possibly block them.
This is the biggest flaw in most social network systems.
There are little to know social consequences when someone is a complete asshole.
Public blocking (making individuals pariahs) should be the primary tool for keeping each other safe. We must have tools to help effectively "tend to the garden".
- User level blocking should public opt-out.
- Instance level blocking should be public.
- There should be an effective mechanism for "blocklists" at the user and instance level.
SSB had similar features, it worked very well.
Regardless, I will now announce when I block individuals, and why. We must tend to the garden.

I say, #Mastodon should adopt this "common decency rule" of conduct:
A poster who has not studied thoroughly the #mathematics that underlies the #GradientDescent optimisation method (of at least one among Cauchy, Hadamard, Curry, Rumelhart, et al.) shall be barred from hyping up all things #DL #AI.

If a #Mastodon post has a content warning, replies by default also have that content warning.
If I click "show more" to get past the content warning on the top post in a thread, it should go ahead and expand the replies too. It's silly that I have to click past the same warning for every single reply in a thread I'm trying to read.

Even if you don't particularly follow @arstechnica, their article links include #Mastodon as the referring site - clicking it tells Condé Nast(e?) that traffic comes from here, which could increase the number of #news groups that post here.
