Update on the whole images not loading thing:
So on the federated timeline, a few images load pretty much immediately, but on others, even if I click them and wait for them to load, they sometimes just... don't. Like, the loading circle will just disappear and the image stays a gradient blur. But if I click on the image again and wait for a while, it will eventually load. Other times, the image thumbnail in the post won't load, but a version of it will if you click on it while the embedded version stays a gradient blur. Even images that aren't even on my screen load before the ones I actually clicked on do.
Undocking and redocking the federated timeline might've improved it a little? Hard to tell.
Makes you wonder how the hell #Mastodon prioritizes what images it's loading because it's definitely not in chronological order. I also wonder if it's just a specific issue on this #instance, or if this is commonplace for others who have the federated timeline docked like I do. Maybe it's #glitchsoc specific? I'm not a web developer, so I wouldn't know.
So, I'll just #askfedi: when you have the federated timeline docked on the browser, do images often break for you or take forever to load? Is it related to how many instances are federated with yours? Have you found a way to fix or improve it?
