What’s your favorite #Mastodon client these days?
I've been using #MonaApp for a while and I like it overall, but I don't like much that you have to buy each major release of the app. So now I'm wondering if I should get the released launched Mona 7 or try something different.

@randahl I believe the limit makes sense. As others have said, constraints foster creativity.
While the compatibility of Mastodon with other ActivityPub implementations means that we occasionally see longer form posts, I believe not having the limit on #Mastodon would be antithetical to the platform. It is micro-blogging for a reason.
I understand why “keeping the audience” makes sense, but that’s not how one should think about Mastodon.

The Mastodon limit is up to instances admins thus there are diverse.
I'm on the @kolektiva.social instance where the present limit is, by post, currently of 10,000 chars (ten thousands, no typo), and I saw that a lot of other instances offer far more than 500 too.
=> consider to move to an other instance as you obviously need more than 500 chars.
