Had to unsubscribe from @euronews 's #Tech Talk #podcast yesterday, because their reporting on "Alternatives to Big #SocialMedia" was such garbage. Among other criticisms, #Mastodon "just isn't fun for users" as #BigTech products. I guess I should have expected that when the podcast opened with an ad for Instagram...

Let’s face the fact, #mastodon is same toxic place as other social platforms. Similar personal individuals without respect to others opinion. In some cases even worse, yes I am talking about you the anti #AI folks, that I am using AI, architecting enterprise AI systems (eg. for infosec industry), doesn’t mean I am enabling mass surveillance and genocide. I am using and implementing AI responsibly, my tools are in no way to replace humans, they are helping workers with their jobs, so they don’t need to focus on for example repetitive tasks, in no way human can investigate 500+ GB daily logs for patterns. So if you want to verbally attack me, don’t even go close to my private and public space bubble.

Las asociaciones, los clubs y los proyectos no son nada sin su comunidad.
Y una comunidad es eso tan caótico y bonito donde hay gente que comparte, gente que pregunta, gente que ayuda, gente que hace memes, gente que aparece a deshoras y alguien que siempre acaba sujetando la escalera.
Masto.club nació un poco de ahí: de recordar que el Fediverso es mucho mas que servidores, protocolos o instancias. Es gente que hace que esto sea posible y no me refiero a los admins, si no a vosotros y ya no doy más la turra.

People often judge those in their 40s who are unemployed or laid off, as if they “failed to build something.” Reality is more complicated.
Careers are shaped by layoffs, industry shifts, health, family, and timing—not just effort. You can do everything right and still get hit.
That said, there’s a lesson here: don’t wait. Build skills, stay adaptable, and create some form of security while you can.
Less judgment, more awareness.
