No #Mastodon server has anything like what a normal person would consider a shut-down or disaster plan, until all Mastodon servers have full post history migration as a standard part of the platform.
Imagine if every time you changed email host, all your old mail had to stay behind / be erased, and people said that was OK because you could take your address book with you.

Equipe do Mastodon trabalha em novo fluxo para indicar servidores (que não a .social)
Em breve o app do Mastodon vai levar em conta a localização geográfica e idioma do usuário para indicar um servidor.
A princípio só vai funcionar nos apps, já que as informações necessárias são mais acessíveis, ao contrário de tentar implementar isso na web.
Assim eles deixam de empurrar todo mundo para a .social.

Specifically, it is essential that we know whether the Mastodon server covenant (https://joinmastodon.org/covenant) adopts the IHRA’s Working Definition of Antisemitism (https://holocaustremembrance.com/resources/working-definition-antisemitism) – which conflates antisemitism with criticism of Israel – or the Jerusalem Declaration on Antisemitism (https://jerusalemdeclaration.org) – which does not. (Or some other declaration that I’m not myself aware of or had discussed with the mastodon.social team.)

Mastodonで「デフォルトサーバー推奨機能」の実験を始めるらしい。
公式アプリからサインアップしようとすると現状ではmastodon.socialがデフォルトサーバーになっていたと思うけど、これを地理的に近く適切な言語に対応したサーバーを推奨するようにするのが目的とのこと。
なるほど、公式アプリからだとよくわからないままデフォルトのmastodon.socialに登録してしまう状態がよろしくないからどうにかしようってことか〜。

Die #ios App ist noch immer richtig mies. Nach wie vor existiert keine App für das #ipad oder eine native App für den PC oder Mac, soweit ich weiß. Technisch hinkt der Dienst anderen sozialen Netzen wie #mastodon oder #sharkey um Längen hinterher. Eigene GIFs gehen nicht. Die Liste ist endlos ...
