This was, and still is, an opportunity to discuss the benefits of true decentralization as well as praise the swift response of Mastodon engineers.

Remember Gypsy? She was found crawling on the street, unable to see. And while one of her eyes seemed like it could most likely be saved, the second one ruptured and was popping out of her eye socket. It caused her extreme pain and discomfort and potential critical complications.

Pompeya: El "servidor" físico de la antigüedad
Si crees que los hilos de conversación y los estados de ánimo públicos son inventos de internet, tienes que mirar las paredes de Pompeya. Antropológicamente, los grafitis pompeyanos funcionaban igual que una instancia de Mastodon o un muro de red social. Allí, la gente común —no solo los poderosos— publicaba desde quejas sobre el servicio de una taberna (el primer "review"), declaraciones de amor, propaganda política, hasta chistes subidos de tono y "hashtags" visuales. Era una comunicación horizontal, orgánica y sin un nodo central que la controlara. Como diría la sociología, era el espacio donde el ciudadano recuperaba su voz fuera de los discursos oficiales del Senado. Al igual que el Fediverso, los grafitis de Pompeya eran una red donde la identidad se construía a través de lo que se compartía con la comunidad en el espacio público.
