Masto's trending hashtags need adjustments, 99% of the time the hashtags trending are those gamey ones created by the community, yes, I know they are fun to a lot of people, otherwise they wouldn't trend, but they also make it impossible to know the "real events" being talked about in the fediverse. The barrier to overcome the gamey hashtags is high, as of this moment for example, only BadBunny, Discord, and SafeInternetDay cut trough what I see as noise.

Eben mein fast fertig geschriebener Beitrag in #Tusky weggefiedelt, also noch einmal von vorn... hoffentlich kriege ich das wieder halbwegs zusammen. Seufz.
Die Instanz mastodon.social mit ihren aktuell gut 3,1 Mio. registrierten Konten gilt als etwas überlaufen. Mit entsprechenden Konsequenzen.
In einem föderierten System wie dem #Fediverse sind ab einer gewissen Größe einzelne Anbieter (hier Instanzbetreibende) problematisch. Vgl. auch E-Mail. Wenn einzelne Knotenpunkte zuviele Anteile des Gesamtsystems auf sich versammeln, widerspricht dies dem dezentralen Charakter und gefährdet das gleichberechtigte Miteinander aller Beteiligten auf Augenhöhe.
Die Moderation wird mehr Aufwand produzieren und (ggf. notgedrungen) vernachlässigt.
Die lokale Zeitleiste ist eigentlich kaum noch zu gebrauchen, da hier ein ähnliches Rauschen wie in der föderierten Zeitleiste herrscht. Es existiert also keine lokale Community wie auf anderen Instanzen, die z.B. regional oder thematisch arbeiten.
Dann sollte man noch wissen, daß die beiden vom #Mastodon-Team betriebenen Instanzen in der Regel grundsätzlich auf Vorabversionen der gleichnamigen Serversoftware laufen.
Ansonsten ist mastodon.social eine (fast) ganz normale #Fediverse-Instanz vom Typ #Mastodon... 😉
