Then, it seems there is indeed a demand for a federated business network. JTensetti wrote: "Within a few weeks, almost a thousand people signed up." So maybe there really is a place for such a project. On the other hand, 1000 is not much, so the question remains open.

I think I just crashed out a bit too hard on #LinkedIn. However reading a bunch of people trying to shame #opensource #developers for things like not wanting to spend money on codesigning certificates and trying to view farm with shitty callout posts was just a bit too much. Esp. because of the shire amount of them I saw right after another...

They start with "Hi Christian, thank you for adding such valuable technical context! [...]" and "Spot on, Scott! I am often complaining about LinkedIn and it really annoys me. Fortunatley, 99% of the people I'm talking to, feel the same. They are annoyed by the flood of non-business-related posts, AI-generated contributions and photos that only have one intention: generating clicks. Most of the people I'm talking to say they would like to leave LinkedIn, but hell, there's no way out, you have to be there, otherwise you are invisible.
A few days ago I randomly stumbled over nolto.social, a Fediverse based alternative to LinkedIn. Currently, there are less than 1k users which is nothing compared to LinkedIn. But it's up to each one of us to make this a success. And often, big things start small...
