NO THE FUCK THEY WEREN'T. They were very useful in their time, but the modern versions are *better*. Which is why it's difficult to find a card catalog or a Polaroid camera these days, and a payphone is practically impossible.

Krass, wenn man so einige social Media Apps und Wellen mitgenommen hat, und nach Jahren jetzt wieder mal #Instagram nutzt da fragt man sich wirklich wie es kommt dass die Leute diese #Bevormundung dort hinnehmen.
- keine Links erlaubt
- sehr schwierige UX, nehme an optimiert zum doom scrolling
- es schreit überall "bleib in der App, geh nicht weg", "Schenk uns deine Zeit"
- embedding von feeds in andere Seiten oder Apps so schwierig, fühlt sich ungewollt an
