#Git v2.53.0 is out:

lore.kernel.org/lkml/xmqq4inz1

Some of the highlights:

* Both "git apply" and "git diff" learn a new whitespace error class, "incomplete-line".

* "git blame" learns "--diff-algorithm=<algo>" option.

* Halve the memory consumed by artificial filepairs created during "git diff --find-copies-harder", also making the operation run faster.

* Add a new manual that describes the data model (github.com/git/git/blob/master – see also: jvns.ca/blog/2026/01/08/a-data )

Hm, is there like... a beginner-friendly guide to mailing changes via git? (Or at least a friendly being who can teach this to a friendly fluffy dragon?)

I'd love to learn how this works so I could allow others to add contributions to my projects while Forgejo isn't ready with federated pull requests yet. ^^'

Anyone else seeing GitHub Actions jobs fail with
“The job was not acquired by Runner of type hosted” + “Internal server error (Correlation ID …)”?
Workflows that ran fine for months are now failing before execution.

Git 2.53 introduces maintenance “is-needed”, expands repo tooling, and ships performance work in diff, packs, and object database internals.
