@MarkDeasy fwiw, though various Mastos were my first exposure to fediversing, over the intervening years i've also tested various non-Masto platforms, hence had a large number of instances. it was a few years ago i tried my first #Friendica, & it really intrigued me, coz the unfortunately somewhat dated UI style masks a really powerful software platform with heaps more user control than Masto. unfortunately though, the number of Masto servers dwarfs the number of public open F ones, so one's choice is already limited, then if one wants one with more than just a handful of users, the choice shrinks again. from this small pool i have tested various, but alas a common experience has been really bad latency &/or reliability. this latest new-to-me one so far is nicely responsive, & very pleasant... except for the nuisance of my needing to get the remaining Follows working properly. once that's done, if the latency & reliability holds up, then this will be a happy new fedi-home 🤞 🤞 🤞

hello peeps
some of you might have noticed i have recently succumbed to another episode of #fedihopping, & this post is from the provisional new #Friendica account. lots of it is going very well, but there is an important area causing problems atm. a staggeringly large number of my Follows are weirdly misbehaving; either entirely failing to be found, or in seeking to do so, a weird error message page occurs. i am still trying to understand what's going on, with the help of the instance owner, @raroun .
many of the problems afflict newsbots, but unfortunately a large number are actual human peeps ('ish... 😜 ). below is a small subset. atm i don't even know if any of you below will actually get to see this post, but if you do, pls could you let me know what you see at your end, of my account, ie, does it show as me already Following you, or pending your approval, or else maybe some error msg? depending on what you advise, i might gain some clue as to what's going on here... maybe. ta.

A side-effect of their model, present at least on Hubzilla and Hubzilla's descendants, including still existing (streams) and Forte, is that comments/replies cannot exist in a stream without a) a parent and b) a start post. On all of them, including Friendica, it isn't a post if it replies to something, very much unlike Mastodon where a thread is a bunch of posts.
Depending on whom you ask, a conversation looks either like this:

If you delete a comment or a reply, this won't just remove the comment from the conversation and rip a hole into the branch in the conversation where the comment used to be. Instead, it will delete the comment, all comments on it, all comments on these comments and so far from the conversation because all these comments on comments no longer have a parent, and therefore, they no longer have anywhere to attach in the conversation.
If you delete the post, you delete the whole conversation. The comments on the post will no longer have a parent, and nothing in the conversation will have a post to refer to anymore.

Spannend ist, dass ich über das mit meinem eigenen Server verbundene „RaccoonForFriendica" auf dem Smartphone Möglichkeiten nutzen kann, die mir Friendicas eigene Weboberfläche am Desktop nicht bietet.
Wie etwa mit einem ungelisteten Kommentar zu antworten oder bei einem Kommentar die Sichtbarkeit auf die Person einzuschränken, der ich antworte.

Dabei bin ich seit 15 Jahren und das auch mit vielen der hier ansässigen Dienste. Knapp 2 Hände voll nutze ich aktiv im Einsatz und viele andere habe ich mal ausprobiert.
Ich bin seit 10 Jahren selber raus aus der IT und mache jetzt nur noch einen auf versierten Anweder ;) und mein Lieblingstool für Text im Fediverse, sind die Misskey artigen Dienste
Die @doris@friendica-deutschland.de macht schon wieder eine #FediverseSprechstunde und da sind wir ganz sicher wieder dabei.
Der @feb@loma.ml macht auch so was, aber speziell für #Friendica, falls dich das interressiert
Also falls du Fragen hast, die ich nicht beantworten kann, kenne ich welche, die das können und mehr Ahnung haben
