Israel's targeted massacres of journalists, Anne Applebaum, and the Fediverse
As we recoil in horror at the targeted killing of Anas Sharif and his Al Jazeera colleagues, as Israel gets away with the targeted massacres of hundreds of journalists, let us remember that all the way back in 2002, the distinguished award-winning American "journalist" and "historian" Anne Applebaum had advocated for the targeted killing of Palestinian journalists by Israel. Since then, she has continued receiving accolades from the Western establishment—she won the Pulitzer Prize in 2004, she was made a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2021.As a denizen of the Fediverse, I feel shame as well as rage that Anne Applebaum's account here has over 58,000 followers, that over 58,000 people treat this psychopath as an authority on democracy and autocracy and geopolitics.

@Katholikentag will nicht-kommerzielle digitale Kommunikationsräume stärken
Der 104. Deutsche Katholikentag findet vom 13. bis 17. Mai 2026 in #würzburg statt. Anlässlich dieses Großereignisses haben sich der Katholikentag und das @kdsz_bayern zu einer besonderen Kooperation entschlossen. Gemeinsam möchten sie das sogenannte #fediverse als zukunftsweisenden, #datenschutz -freundlichen Kommunikationsraum stärken.
Die Kooperation soll ein Zeichen setzen. In den kommenden Monaten werden beide Partner regelmäßig Informationen zum Katholikentag im Fediverse teilen, konkret über Mastodon – begleitet von praktischen Tipps zum Einstieg.
