Hey fedi 👋 I’m Kalvin, 25 y/o, college diploma in IT from Malaysia 🇲🇾, into #RockMusic, open source tech, coffee, green tea, and other teas, exploring the Fediverse. Expect posts about anything like my own understanding of life and the absolute entity (God), emotional intelligence, and random thoughts. I mostly post in English language but sometimes in Malay language. I have too many Fediverse accounts and most of my other accounts redirect here and to Lamin.my, though not all.

I was able to engage more on the Fediverse this week, and enjoyed the rich diversity of things popping up in my feed.
I’ve signed up for the Beat Beethoven race in late September. It’ll be my first race done in person since 2018, and I’m eagerly looking forward to it. It’s just a 7.5 km run, but the gimmick is that Symphony Nova Scotia will be playing Beethoven along the route. After there will be a concert.

This morning I finally got to listen to the latest episode of Working Class Literature. It’s a recording from Florence Working-Class Literature Festival and captures both the writers and organizers at the festival and an active struggle of occupying workers at a factory. It’s absolutely worth listening to.

I could smell the smoke from the Annapolis County wildfire when I stepped out of my door this morning. It’s startling to hear from Natural Resources that it could burn for another month.

I read through all of Terry Moore’s Strangers in Paradise years ago. Some of his characters have stuck with me for as long.
He posted an image of his recommended reading order for all his connected comics, and I’m drawn to the idea of reading from the beginning and catching up on the decade of books I haven’t kept up with.
I’ve sworn by cold brew coffee for a long time. This recipe from Budget Bytes is an accessible one to get into making and drinking it.
I held off on coffee today until my work day is about to wrap up and as a pre-run boost. This little espresso machine is great.
I’ve tried a few Mastodon clients for Linux (Tuba, Tokodon, Whalebird) and they’ve always paled in comparison to just viewing it in a browser.
Android apps have done better, particularly when managing multiple accounts and browsing hashtags.Has anyone had luck finding a great Linux client?
We stopped in at the dahlia display at the Halifax Public Gardens this morning. Seeing them each year is a late Summer highlight.

As a Maritimer and a redhead, I’m shamefully late to reading Anne, but this is the third take on Anne of Green Gables I’ve read this year. Thrummler’s art is so expressive and captures the place so well.
This hibiscus might not have been in the glorious dahlia display in the gardens, but the large flower and deep colour drew my eye away from that.
Outside Every One Every Day Kjipuktuk / Halifax there’s a beautiful set of beadwork embedded in a bench. The hummingbird is particularly nice.
