The bottomline rule is this: Never ever trust anyone asking you to #verify or reset your keys and/or passwords. Ask first if you really need to confirm.
Yes, even if it is coming from what appears to be a legitimate email domain name because it can be spoofed!
Absolutely no one will ever ask you to verify your account in the #Fediverse network. It is not part of the experience. Sure, there were third-party services who did this a few years back during the Twitter Migration 2.0 but those were primarily targeted to well-established accounts from Twitter (and usually journalists), not to random people. Not you. Not me. And was definitely not in a spammy way.
Always remember, if you are not sure, just ask. There is nothing wrong with asking. If people laughed at you or ridiculed you for asking about a "simple" or "common sense" thing, block them (maybe one day you'll have the last laugh too).
You know what "askx means?
A-sk, and it shall be given = intelligence
S-eek, and you shall find = knowledge
K-nock, and it shall be opened = wisdom

The upshot is "Howard’s entire channel has now been deleted by YouTube, which cited copyright infringement." #ALPHA aka @Google cloaking #censorship of significant misleading public claims by powerful people as "Copyright infringement."
I wonder when enough people will pitch Alpha's services in revulsion of their support of the fascists and science deniers, and what needs to happen to make it easy for people to leave. And I wonder how the #Fediverse might enable this.
#NetworkEffect is a powerful trap - and it will take people far more creative (and tech savy) than I am to build the tools to transition - tools that ordinary mortals (and especially their parents/grandparents [yes I know, that's ageismm, but I'm old]) can easily use.

you don't have to write a novel. just describe your #video or #picture succinctly
for pictures of #text, there's easy quick online tools to turn it into text
it's not just a matter of making mastodon a friendlier place for #disability: sometimes people aren't in a place they can listen, or they have a bad connection, or the media decayed
and some people don't boost posts without alt text, so you lose engagement
