I'm working on a project - does anyone know of a way to query GoToSocial's API without an authorization token (mastodon-style)?
I'm trying to hit /api/v1/statuses/{id}/context - but it requires an application token, which in the context I'm using this I won't be able to provide (there's no client).
Thoughts?

I am absolutely not, now or ever, unfollowing anyone who doesn't give me any specific reason to unfollow them, just because my timeline is "too much" or "going by too fast"… frankly, that was exactly how I used to think before I found the Fediverse, back when all I knew was bullshit corporate social media, and subsequent corporate-bullshit algorithms.
This is an example of precisely why the Fediverse has all of these really cool features, and contrariwise, why those other sites don't.
Those other sites simply don't want you to have said features, because if you did, their algorithms would become significantly less effective at showing you whatever it is "they"—meaning, some corporation, meaning bullshit—want you to see, regardless of whether you wanted to see it or not. They missed the part where that's their problem, correctly. They don't want you to follow categorically every account you see that seems interesting, and then succeed in the long term at actually keeping up with whichever ones are, in fact, interesting.
Why would they want you to be able to do that, never mind easily, least of all help you with that? If that's how you succeed, then that's also how they fail.
They, in the interest of their own bottom line if for no other reason (there is almost never any other reason worth mentioning), would like to distract you from whatever conversation you're already having on said platform, if any, mid-sentence if possible, so that they can make you look at some bullshit that one of their bullshit advertisers would like to sell you. They also sell you, meaning your data, and the more complete of a profile they can build against your use of their services, and the more personal, the better—for them, obviously.
I think there's a real, somewhat tangible reason why the political opinions represented by this endearingly weird part of the Internet are, on average, blatantly left of center by quite a bit, and that only so much of that is ideological properly. I think a lot of it is, to an extent that probably shouldn't be ignored, technical—more so than some people who are themselves fans of the Fediverse would admit comfortably, I would imagine.
The Fediverse is, at the time of writing, already working in application for principally all of the same reasons communism worked in theory, and for functionally the same reason the Mazda rotary engine did not work in theory even though it actually worked.
Capitalism is, understandably, not particularly happy about what goes on here. I missed the part where that's my problem, also correctly.
