Some thoughts on the Discord hack (age verified ID) and the general state of surveillance capitalism on Big Social.
They say it's for safety. But it feels like a trap.
Every time we log in, we give up a little more. Our names. Our faces. Our voices. Our thoughts. All watched. All stored. All sold.
Big platforms don’t ask. They demand. Want to talk to friends? Show your ID. Want to share a photo? Agree to be tracked. Want to speak freely? Not here.
It’s not a choice when the door is locked and the key costs your #privacy
But there’s another way.
The Open Web is built on trust, not control. You #choose what to share. You choose where to go. You choose who to listen to.
No gatekeepers. No silent watchers. Just people, talking.
