FYI there seems to be a wave of spambots posing as Palestinians in need of aid hitting Mastodon instances with open registrations. Right now the biggest tells are rapidly mentioning other users with the same message, a bio indicating that they are verified by "GAZA VETTERS" (this is an organization that verifies users on Tumblr), and a profile and pinned message that usually looks like the one attached below (although I'm expecting this to change). The most recent example that I caught is @/Honny@mas.to though I expect this one to get quickly taken care of.
Please remember to stay vigilant and support actual Palestinians in need, not scammers that might be hiding behind spambots. https://gaza-verified.org is a great place to get started; it's a non-exhaustive list of fediverse accounts that they have verified.

@robini71 @jdking92 "JT" keeps creating new accounts on open-signup fedi servers and importing a follow list to continue this campaign of harassment. For a few weeks now I have been blocking and reporting each new account of theirs that follows me. Many instance admins are aware, but JT uses the open nature of the Fediverse to stalk, harass, and impersonate. He seems to be obsessed with harassing blind people in particular. #FediBlock

I have a similar issue as this poster - hachyderm.io
blocks fe.disroot.org because the fe.disroot.org admin has the same philosophy of only defederating as a last resort.

Neither I, nor my friends on hachyderm.io, nor the fe.disroot.org admins, are engaging in any poor behaviour - and yet, we're the ones being punished.
Why is this a thing? Is this an architectural flaw in the #Fediverse?
