Edit: Personally, like Katherine, I block liberally and set up loads of filters. Nobody wants to become a cop just to have some calm in their feed 😉

Hey 'shop locals, or anyone farther out following stuff like #fediblock I think we've talked something like this up before - we have had multiple rounds of spam that have involved abandoned and unmoderated instances that have been left with open registration. we usually defederate early and defederate often.
However, there are two instances, mastodon.cloud and mstdn.jp that have avoided this because of longstanding follow/follower connections. mastodon.cloud was an early-ish and large instance
