Hey @newsmast your channel.org service should be opt in whether we want it boosting our posts. Just because I did a public post tagging iOS does not mean that I should have @applefeed here boosting my post with no opt in. Regular person boosting stuff? Great. Bots boosting stuff? Make that opt in!
How about be more like guppe was, where it only boosts if you explicitly mention the channel! That'd be far more appropriate than it's current scraper like behavior you need to opt out of.

She has ALL THE RIGHT in this world to be outraged at those who stole her dignity, her dreams, her family members, her home and her safety.
She posted the picture of a baby buried under rubble by the IDF bombings.
She commented with “the Nazi genocide is still ongoing”.
Now YOU tell me @staff: what person in this world with anything that resembles a functioning brain and a heart not filled with the filthiest poison would condemn this post as an example of antisemitism, and publicly (and anonimously) shame a victim of a genocide perpetrated by his own country on his timeline, all while ignoring that the post is about a fucking baby dead under rubble?
How much dehumanization are you willing to allow on your platform?
What kind of a sad and rotten human being, terminally perverse mind and evolutionary failure must one be to always look at the world through the lenses of aggressive victimism, and continuous ideological conflicts based on pseudo-academic arguments only stated in a book he wrote himself, even while the government he supports is murdering people right now?
How can you not see that every single day you allow this scumbag to stay online and act with impunity behind a shield of anonimity is a shameful stain that will tarnish forever your reputation of a safe place with no room for bullies, Nazis and sociopaths?
We brought Palestinian voices to the Fediverse telling them that, unlike mainstream social media, this was a safe place where they could be heard without being ostracized.
As the main instance on the Fediverse, and the one where most of these accounts have been registered, I demand that you help us keep this place safe for those going through a genocide RIGHT NOW. And that means that profiles like @8124 MUST GO without further ado.
They have already done enough damage.
They can attack me, no problem. I’m used to deal with ultra-Zionist bullies, I’ve got strong shoulders and means to defend myself. But they shouldn’t fucking dare to throw traumatized people whose lives they have already broken into their filthy machinery of slander, intimidation and dehumanization. They’ve crossed a line that civil society shouldn’t allow them to cross.
Genocide apologists funded by a foreign terrorist government to harass and silence those who either endure or condemn their genocide have no place on any instances that run in EU territory, nor in any civilized society, especially in this historical moment.
If they want a safe place where they can freely spread terrorist propaganda, they are free to run their own hardcore Zionist instance hosted in their own pariah shithole. I’m pretty sure that most of the admins will be very happy to defederate it then, just like we did with other instances run by lunatics. Then they’re free to throw their #FediBlock calls in the middle of their cathedral in the desert, without harming anyone in the process.

I can’t believe that he’s still allowed to lurk over my profile even after blocking me. I created two accounts on mastodon.social just to defend myself from his slanderous defemation, from him threatening to complain about me to my employer, and defemating my own employer to force them to take actions against me.
Both of my accounts were suspended for evading blocks.
But this filthy motherfucker is STILL allowed to take screenshots of whatever piece I or @aral write where we criticize a FUCKING GENOCIDE done by his country, he can keep sharing it on his timeline and in his lectures without our permission, and harass us with #FediBlock bullshit.
We are trying to fix the mess that HIS COUNTRY has created by supporting Palestinians escaping death and famine (the very death and famine that that motherfucker has been denying for so long), and we also need to get these levels of harassment in the process?
The fascist shithole that he supports so vehemently is displacing one million of people in Gaza RIGHT NOW. And he has justified this genocide AT EVERY SINGLE CHANCE HE GOT. Yeah, I...think I'm gonna just unfollow the #fediblock tag. It's really gone downhill, and lately it's all just:
- Israel apologists whining about "antisemites" because they can't tell the difference between "Israel" and "Jews" or otherwise just want to push for support for Israel without outright saying so
- Weird very specific callouts of single people for often questionable abuse
- The above, except also pointing out specific victims, ironically painting a target on those victims for a whole lot more actual abuse
- Strange drama about itself and some tag called TheBadSpace that I have no idea what the hell they're talking about and, re: the above, don't really care.
Since starting my Hubzilla, there's yet to be a single time where I've been like, "oh, hey, that is indeed a shitty instance that should be defederated from, thank you fediblock." It's all just this, and that really sucks. You can't be tolerant of people abusing important tags like this, or this is what happens, and now, in my opinion, from what I've seen of it over the last few months, the tag is useless.
Is there another tag to follow that actually does what this was supposed to do, and help keep objectively bad actor instances at bay? And if there isn't, would a forum on Lemmy or HZ be more useful for this? That would allow for a little accountability to prevent it from just being a way by which to bully people, spread agendas, or paint targets, and also allow for better searchability and engagement.

Just to be clear, my criticism of #TheBadSpace isn't that it isn't a perfect tool.
My issue with TBS is that it makes the problem worse, by causing the exact type of harassment that Ro has identified here.
I am not the vector for racist harassment.
Ro is not getting racist harassment from Nazis because I am talking about him.
Ro is getting racist harassment from Nazis, because Nazis harass any marginalized person listed on #Fediblock or TBS.
Which is why they are bad tools!

If you block these Nazis, they don't go away.
You are in *more* danger if you just hide their posts, because now you can't see them.
On fedi, queer people can minimize that risk through networks of trust and anonymity across small instances.
Defederation and auth fetch prevents some posts from going out. Disabling the web API helps too.
But all of that safety just disappears when some bigot like Ro lists them on #Fediblock or #TheBadSpace.

This is the *best case scenario* for #TheBadSpace to work.
Three famous Nazi instances with high TBS scores, targeting the person who literally designed and runs TBS.

Ro has correctly identified the problem with the #Fediblock hashtag and #TheBadSpace.
When somebody posts about a queer or racialized person on Fediblock, that queer or racialized person gets a massive upswing in harassment from mask-off Nazis.
Because of the increased visibility.
Ro and Marcia have invented tools whose primary impact is to direct Nazis at queer people.
Which is why they are bad tools.
