Ho avuto una discussione con un mio conoscente su #Facebook. Sosteneva che i social network alternativi come il #Fediverse sono fondamentalmente inutili e che la #censura, diffusa ma più o meno velata, praticata nei social network di massa è praticamente ineluttabile.
I miei post vengono condivisi automaticamente qui. Sono tentato di iniziare a condividerli su #facebook per vedere se la mia #bolla informativa è più ampia qui o là.

I had a discussion with an acquaintance of mine on #Facebook. He argued that alternative social networks such as the #Fediverse are basically useless and that the widely but more or less veiled #censorship practised in mass social networks is practically inescapable.
My blog posts are automatically shared here. I'm tempted to start sharing them on #facebook to see if my #info #bubble is wider here or there.

What is the catch to Fecebook's "professional mode?" Apparently the new normal is that without this bit set you can't be followed, at least not publicly. I think they assume that if you have followers instead of (or in addition to) friends, then you are some kind of influencer, and probably monetizing your web presence in some way. My best guess would be that this policy change is to corral the "influencers" into a separate category of usees that will subsequently have various platform capitalism antifeatures twiddled to whatever values optimize Fecebook's haul from their web presences.
I follow people (who can be followed) on Fecebook so that my ?sk=h_chr feed (the only feed I look at) contains a few like-minded people and not just the chuds I'm stuck with such as relatives and classmates. I don't follow "community pages" or "influencer" accounts precisely because they're a constant source of self-promotion (i.e. spam). It looks like Fecebook has me figured out and is trying to make itself unusable for me...be in the social pool which socially but not politically engaged, or the "influencer" pool, which is commercially but not politically engaged.
