Gogoan duzue zenbat eztabaida, ahalegin eta denbora hedabideetako #publizitatea arautzen gehiegikeriak ekiditeko? Apustuak, prostituzioa, osasun produktuak, inbertsiokoak...

Bada, #Metak onartzen du 2024an HAMASEI BILIOI DOLAR fakturatu zituela, bere irabazien %10, #Facebook, #Instagram eta #Whatsapp bidezko iruzurrezko iragarkietan, denda eta inbertsio faltsuak, legez kanpoko kasinoak eta debekatutako botikak barne.

Baina egon beharra dago, e! #JendeGuztiaHorDago!

RE: infosec.exchange/@briankrebs/1

Is anyone surprised by this? And they have the temerity to go after whistleblowers like Wynn-Williams. The digital ad space is largely crooked because of Big Tech. Zuck, we all know the truth because we see it play out on your sites, and at some stage people are going to stop accepting your insincere mea culpas.

Content warning:Hot tip for those still on Facebook (like me)

If you find yourself still on Facebook – but worse: You find that their latest tactic to keep you in their walled garden by not making URLs clickable actually works on you. That is, if you are less likely to mark a text URL to right click and open it than you are likely to just click a link, here's your solution:

This extension will make text URLs into clickable links: addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firef

Everyone, meet the "partner" working with SWICG and Social Web Foundation on the next generation of ActivityPub:

> Meta internally projected late last year that it would earn about 10% of its overall annual revenue – or $16 billion – from running advertising for scams and banned goods, internal company documents show.

> …Meta’s own research suggests its products have become a pillar of the global fraud economy. A May 2025 presentation by its safety staff estimated that the company’s platforms were involved in a third of all successful scams in the U.S.

> According to a December 2024 presentation, Meta’s user base is exposed to 22 billion organic scam attempts every day. That’s on top of the 15 billion scam ads presented to users daily.

> Every six months, Meta earns $3.5 billion from just the portion of scam ads that “present higher legal risk” […] That figure almost certainly exceeds “the cost of any regulatory settlement involving scam ads.” Rather than voluntarily agreeing to do more to vet advertisers, the same document states, the company’s leadership decided to act only in response to impending regulatory action.

Another class action suit coming!
"Meta was hesitant to abruptly remove accounts, even those considered some of the “scammiest scammers,” out of concern that a drop in revenue could diminish resources needed for artificial intelligence growth."

"Massively respected investigative journalist from Reuters reporting on int docs that🚨N of $10B of annual ad spend on #Facebook #IG is #fraud & their stock barely trails the mkt today? Nuts -they know it.

This reminds me of internally how they seemed to handle their inflated metrics & leaking data. It’s only an issue if it impacts ad spend. One can make a solid ARG that 2018 pass by the SEC, FTC +friends in Cong has led to so much harm."

Facebook applies "the formula" from Fight Club as 10% of the company’s total 2024 revenue came from scammy ads and sales of banned goods.

"The cost of lost revenue from clamping down on the scams was weighed against the cost of fines from regulators."
