This is why I know so much about scams —from my time working at Meta.
Interestingly enough, when I first told people I worked for Meta and exposed all the horrible things we were doing, that fact was celebrated on the Fediverse. It was often even trending there.
But when I started talking about the scams I knew about —including the ones coming onto the Fediverse to warn people —suddenly, working for Meta was seen as a character flaw.

Meta projected 10% of its 2024 revenue would come from ads for scams and banned goods, documents seen by Reuters show. And the social media giant internally estimates that its platforms show users 15 billion scam ads a day.

Thinking back to Frances Haugen and Sarah Wynn-Williams: what they have both said gels with our experiences of Meta's websites, and Meta's public statements about them both are repetitive and unconvincing. Also: where are the men in all of this? Looking at this and other tech stories that have broken over the last few years that I know of, it's often women insiders and journalists leading the charge. Come on boys, more of you inside this firm must have grown some bollocks. #Meta #Facebook
