Xi Jinping meets with Taiwan opposition leader Cheng Li-wun in Beijing.

AGI - Chinese President Xi Jinping met with the leader of Taiwan’s opposition party, Cheng Li-wun, in Beijing, according to Chinese state media.

The chairwoman of the Kuomintang (KMT), Cheng, is the first party leader to visit China in the last ten years and stated that she hoped to sow “the seeds of peace” during her trip, which sparked debate in Taiwan with critics accusing her of being too pro-China.

Tensions Between China and Taiwan

China considers Taiwan one of its provinces, which it has not yet managed to unify with the rest of its territory since the end of the Chinese civil war in 1949 and does not rule out using force to take control of it.

Since 2016, Taiwan’s presidency has been held by a rival KMT faction, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), with an independence-leaning orientation and a less conciliatory approach towards Beijing, which has significantly worsened bilateral relations. China considers the current Taiwanese president, Lai Ching-te, a separatist.

Beijing has intensified diplomatic pressure on Taipei. Furthermore, it frequently deploys fighter jets and warships around the island and conducts regular military exercises.

On Friday, Lai Ching-te wrote on Facebook that Chinese actions “gravely undermine regional peace and stability.” In a speech delivered on Tuesday, Cheng Li-wun stated that “the two sides of the Strait are not condemned to war” and presented her visit as a “historic journey for peace.”

The Plea: “Avoid War”

China and Taiwan should cooperate to “avoid war”: this was said by the island’s opposition leader, Cheng Li-wun, to Chinese President Xi Jinping, during a rare meeting held in Beijing. “Both sides should overcome political confrontation… and seek a systemic solution to prevent and avoid war, so that the Taiwan Strait can become a model for the peaceful resolution of conflicts in the world,” Cheng Li-wun told Xi.

Computer sagt nein!

Alles moet blijkbaar stuk.

Why wannabe #hackers are so annoying #online and why nobody likes them:

Unfortunately, there’s a shockingly large number of people who’ve seen a cool #Hollywood #hacker #movie and then think, “I want to be that #cool, #powerful and #rich too—and preferably without having to do anything for it.” They then look for some kind of contact point for so-called hackers and beg for an #exploit they can run without any #knowledge, which they plan to use to hack the next bank and get rich. Even worse and more disgusting than people who are obsessed with becoming rich are those who try to hack their ex-girlfriend's #Facebook account to get #revenge on her.

That's not hacking—it's just plain stupid, because nothing works that way.

A quick aside on how to become a real hacker: Studying computer science isn’t the worst idea, but you can also find and learn everything you need to know through self-study online. Figuring out where to find the best learning materials on the internet is part of becoming a hacker.

The most frustrating experience I keep having online is when I see a little potential in these wannabe hackers and try to help them get on the right track. I'll forward them the URIs and PDFs with the learning materials. The usual response is: “I'm not stupid enough to click on long URLs or open PDFs that might be infected.” How can you want to be a hacker and not even bother to understand the most basic cybersecurity strategies?

Anyone who thinks long URIs are more dangerous than short ones is beyond help anyway.

There are plenty of tools available for opening potentially dangerous documents, such as PDFs. A hacker should be familiar with these tools; anyone who isn’t has already failed to clear the first and smallest barrier on the long road to mastery.

One banned US user pointed us to this petition, we’ve been tracking it daily.

4.4.2026 When we first spotted it, it had just under 61,800 signatures.

9.4.2026, it has reached 62,426 — and is still growing as we speak.

At what point does this stop being “individual cases”
and start being a systemic problem?
