i have a deep dislike for usamerican fascist-owned surveillance-capitalist social media. they silence opposition to oppression, and enclose people in disinformation, AI slop and scams.
i deliberately advertise my bike workshop as being on the fediverse instead of the ubiquitous "find us on facebook" to direct people away from there. i wish more organisations would get off #meta.
is this idea of »you can't advertise your business on mastodon« perhaps related to the misconception of »you can't sell free software« ?

all it does when people are told to not promote their businesses on #mastodon is that it directs them towards big tech instead.
i will add the "# ad" tag to by price lists so you can filter out that tag, but i don't think it's wrong of me to post this. i want people to share it, so people can learn about my bike workshop by word of mouth on the fediverse rather than the unethical practice of paying for #google #adwords or boosted #facebook posts.
