Boy, #Drupal security releases seem extra foreboding when they are for #AI-related modules. There are entirely new classes of security vulnerabilities that are being created with these integrations. How often will we see release notes like "the AI will delete your entire site if a user asks nicely in spanish".

@kreynen I probably could have accomplished what wanted with the Field Layout module to define extra display modes for forms, but for aggressive re-theming, I find it easier to do some of the restructuring in Twig.
I probably could also have used the default node_edit_form Twig template file to direct the render array into different SDC components based on conditions, but I'm already running behind and didn't feel like pushing my luck.

@kreynen no, not literally 24 hours. I got stuck on it yesterday, slept on it, and started figuring it out today. It was probably closer to 6 hours of actual time.
I make heavy use of my own custom theme suggestions for my #Drupal sites. I've seldom tried doing this with forms because there isn't as much context to latch onto and most of the time I don't need to do anything this aggressive.
This time I needed to. The fun started when I setup a theme suggestion and Twig template for node_edit_form and it did a few things I didn't expect.
If a theme suggestion matches for a form template, the 'form' render element becomes renamed 'element'. It still renders after you change the variable in Twig, but the without() function stops working.
The way to get around this? Use hook_theme() to declare your own version of the node_edit_form and then override the #theme variable name in a hook_form_ID_alter.

I just spent 24 hours going in circles in #Drupal because everything I knew about creating customizations for its theming system doesn't work for forms.
You can setup template suggestions, but the form objects gets corrupted into an element object and doesn't respond to some of the Twig theming functions you would need to customize a form.
On the plus side, I figured out how to get around it and not being able to do as I please to customize form themes has been an issue I've had for a long time.
