Free idea: Drupal as a self hosted newsletter and mailing system. A free(ish) alternative to Mailchimp.
Users are subscribers to lists. Content can belong to different lists and are scheduled to be sent using Cron.
Twig templates and modern layout solutions can render stylish HTML email templates that admins can build WYSIWYG style.
