This is sobering reading. Just the quoted ChatGPT responses should be enough to have it withdrawn from the market as a dangerous product, just like if it was discovered there was was lead in baby formula.
The reckless disregard shown here is disturbing, yet somehow unsurprising.

This feels less like “if” and more like “when”. #OpenAI needs money, so sponsored answers in #ChatGPT are inevitable. Like early #GoogleAds - profits first, then trust takes a hit. Only difference: AI can create its own context, not just point to websites.

Every time someone tries to defend the use of #Chatgpt or generative #AI in general I get another headache. Like it's. Not "Just another" computer program. It's plagiarism at best. Like if you use it I am so so sorry but you're lazy and using it not only undercuts the value of your work but is genuinely corroding your problem solving and creative skills.

so...rather by accident, I had my first experience today of someone using ChatGPT when transacting some sort of business with me, and it was my vocational counselor! she ran my provisional resume through #ChatGPT to polish it up. and under the circumstances, I didn't feel like making any kind of fuss about it.
I must be honest: when it comes to trying to sound appealing to human-resource drones, I haven't the faintest idea what they want, and I have an extremely bad history of guessing and improvising on my own. The sad thing about AI slop-filtering is that it's surely attuned to the expectations of just the sort of people who end up making hiring and management decisions.

Ich habe unterschätzt, wie sehr sich immer weitere Teile der Weltwirtschaft an #ChatGPT & Co. klammern trotz der offensichtlichen Unzulänglichkeiten, wie wenig Widerstand sich bei den Leidtragenden (z. B. Webseiten, die von KI-Botanfragen erdrückt werden) formiert und wie schwer es die echten Innovationen auf ML-Basis haben sich vom Müll von #OpenAI & Co. medienwirksam abzusetzen.
