Given recent reports that handles 2.5bn requests a day, the total consumption of GPT-5 could reach the daily electricity demand of 1.5m US homes.' 📎

It Took Just 24 Hours of Complaints for #OpenAI to Start Bringing Back Its Old Model

#ChatGPT users are seriously upset and it’s not at all clear yet whether Altman’s promises will make up for it. Because it’s not just 4o that people are clamoring for.

Since everyone kept hailing #ChatGPT version 5 as some kind of revolutionary update, I decided to test it again today.

I asked it to explain to me how I can use the natural gas resource to support my furniture industry in the city building and logistics game Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic.

It gave me a wonderfully formatted, detailed list of buildings and production chains, and even offered to turn it into a chart or generate a factory blueprint.

Perfect - except that neither natural gas nor furniture are actually in the game. Both were often proposed by fans and have historical precedent in the USSR, but were never implemented. It hallucinated the natural gas industry by describing essentially the oil industry production chain. Furniture was entirely made up; it hallucinated a "furniture factory" turning boards into consumer goods.

Sure this was an unfair "trick", and I can't expect that game's guides to be in its training data. But really, a useful assistant tool should have told me that it has no information on the game's workings or said resources being in it.

But it didn't. And it can't. Because it's a word generator, not a search engine and not any kind of intelligence or thinking apparatus.

Well.. .. I think I've found a fantastic use case for you! I'm in the process of learning (years into learning.. years to go.. LOL), and I am hitting a particularly frustrating topic for me to be able to get through my thick skull... and that is «ce que» ou «ce qui» .. So, I just popped into ChatGPT's Voice Interaction model and began a conversation asking them to teach me, and even quiz me, and coach me on my pronunciation, etc…

I must say, it was fantastic.
