A man poisoned himself because he asked ChatGPT how to lower his chloride levels.
ChatGPT said to start replacing the sodium chloride (table salt) in his diet with sodium bromide, which he then used instead of salt for 3 months.
The sodium bromide poisoning caused him to have hallucinations which sent him to seek help at an emergency department – and now, this is the interesting part – the hallucinations were that his neighbour was poisoning him.
He was successfully treated.
