This is how I use ChatGPT when doing my daily reading. It is fantastic at getting further links into the literature. It’s cryptic output also means that I really get to exercise my brain and pretty much requires me to go through the primary sources.
I do from time to time prompt it to be a bit more “newbie”-friendly when I’m tired or just want some understandable answer, but the terseness usually hides some real “in depth reasoning” tying together disparate concepts into something valuable to ponder, vs the surface level summarization slop.

This is followed by the usual writing in a sketchbook, marginalias (and QR code stickers linking to the chat!) and traditional research process.
