Let's go through this. But be warned, it's heavy on the cringe.

"Driving around what we’ll call the beautiful canal district of the city the streets are lined close to the pavement with four storey apartment buildings."

Wait.

Tina, you run a sustainability publication.

You're in Amsterdam.

And you're driving?!

"They’re all butted hard up against the pavement, but each has its own unique architectural flavour while retaining a collegiate feel with its neighbours. The result is not at all crammed or congested and the street life seems to benefit."

You run a publication about sustainability in the built environment and good urbanism is a new revelation to you?

Not off to a great start.

"We’re here as guest of Bentley Systems to cover the company’s annual event and Year in Infrastructure awards, but primarily to pick up threads of what AI has in store for the built environment sector and how a such software company that specialises in global infrastructure is meeting the challenge."

In other words, you're getting a free holiday from "how a such [sic] software company" in exchange for being their stenographer.

"That AI was undeniable; only problem is we still don’t know what it wants, what it will get us to do and how much we’ll get paid, if anything."

Shouldn't you figure out how sentence generation bots work before you write about them? Ideally from someone who doesn't sell them?

"What’s certain is that anyone who controls this beast will be rich beyond dreams – if they can control the trajectory of its Frankenstein-ish evolution, that is."

Is it certain? Or could it possibly be a bubble?

"Already the magnetic attraction of capital may have already outperformed the famed Dutch tulip bubble of the 17th century when extraordinary prices were paid for prized ownership of the best tulip bulbs. Only to crash of course."

If there's a chance that this is a bubble, shouldn't you be more critical in your coverage?

"Which is what amplifies the disruptive potential of AI and what’s at stake when it’s applied to the built environment and where hugely expensive infrastructure is concerned."

Okay, how?

And if you're advocating for sustainability in the built environment, should you perhaps analyse whether its environmental costs exceed its benefits?

"What was coming down the AI pike was fast. In just one year since last year’s event, said chief executive Nicholas Cumins, AI had soared."

Do you have a source for this other than the CEO of s software company that's selling this stuff?

"A standout question came from Anupama Madhok Sud, director and editor of India’s Water Digest, who wanted to know if the AI enhanced tech could help identify potential failures in the many ageing dams India now has to contend with."

I mean, I suppose the data centres could use up a lot of that fresh drinking water to cool GPUs?

That aside.

Tax cuts for billionaires, which is being invested in building out massive data centres, is taking money away from actually useful public works, like maintaining dams.

"Joan Michelson, a reporter-producer, from Forbes and host of the exquisitely named Electric Ladies Podcast, brought the focus onto sustainability.

"It goes without saying, Cumins said, embedded in the software are carbon calculations. What an AI enhanced system can do is slash the time and cost of infrastructure – each producing its own a sustainability dividend."

How?

Evidence?

Examples?

Does this "sustainability dividend" exceed the resources used to operate the sentence generation bots?

And keep in mind, all the above quotes are from a publication that claims to advocate for sustainability in the built environment.

Artists and sex workers: Get shamed, banned and demonetised for carefully crafted adult content and services.

Tech bros: Get billions in funding, praise, will likely face no issues for offering similiar content.

Please support artists and sex workers instead. You will experience a pleasant interaction with another human, help said human to make a living, and not waste a ridiculous amount of energy and water in the process.

#OpenAI CEO #SamAltman clarified that the company is not the „#moralpolice of the world” after backlash over loosening restrictions on #ChatGPT content, including #erotica for verified adults. Altman emphasised treating adult users like adults while still prohibiting harmful content. This move contradicts Altman’s previous stance against features like “sex bot avatars”. cnbc.com/2025/10/15/altman-ope #tech #media #news

Dear all, I am glad to announce that the final version of my paper is now available. One interesting fact: you can see all the reviewers’ comments and my replies. I believe this transparency is important for understanding why and how the paper was accepted. I fully support this new system of openness.
