Bluesky Corporation have just started hosting and verified the US agency ICE:

In other words, Bluesky are collaborating with racist violent thugs and murderers.

Now, we can Shit-Meme n' Judge a verified Profile.
Still Sus #Bluesky
@NicksWorld There's a few technical differences but the main difference is philosophical.
#Bluesky is essentially just another corporate social network. It's owned by a private company, founded by a billionaire, and like all businesses it will ultimately want to try to make money, either through accepting advertisements or asking users to pay for extra features.
#Mastodon (and the wider #Fediverse) is not owned by anyone. It exists because thousands and thousands of individuals have all set up their own separate servers that all know how to talk to each other. There is no overall policy or goal (which is why sometimes server admins fall out & defederate from each other) but that also means it's impossible for corporate interests to buy or control Mastodon as a whole.
I have blocked the bridge. Not interested in anything emanating from any organization welcoming #ICE.
I'm well aware that posting this info on the Fediverse seems like a pointless exercise, but it's to raise awareness and spread the word to people active in BOTH places.
I was never really active on #Bluesky and entirely stopped using it months ago but there's no point in posting this info there because I have zero reach. Or rather: 1100+ followers and 1-2 likes (at best!) and zero comments for any post. It's like I'm shadow-banned.
If you use it and enjoy it no judgement but please be safe!
Jay Graber seems like a real salt of the earth type, I can't imagine what happened.
An important PSA for people who are active on #Bluesky and who, upon hearing that the ICE account was officially verified, are saying: "I will just block it."
Blocking on Bluesky is NOT PRIVATE: it's very easy to see who is blocking any account by visiting sites that list that information.
I took a screenshot from https://clearsky.app, listing all the accounts that are blocking ICE (I pixelated avatars and usernames for privacy purposes).
The safest bet is to mute (that info is private) 😫

With the rise of far-right US government departments appearing on BlueSky, it's worth noting that there exists features in the ActivityPub-AT Protocol bridge for blocking problematic BlueSky users from Mastodon.
1. Go to https://fed.brid.gy/settings and log in with your account.
2. Enter the BlueSky handle in the block field that appears, e.g. in this case, `icegov.bsky.social`
3. Click Go
You should see the page reload with the yellow banner reading that you have blocked the nominated account. #BlueSky #FuckICE
