I have a GMKtec nucbox G3, Intel n100, 512gb ssd, 16gb ram.
- mastodon-glitchsoc: no. Or for a small instance. Too heavy.
- Sharkey: no. Or for a small instance. Too heavy, and too ma'y informations on the screen.
- Mitra: no. Could have been good one, but users can write stuff and make it readable only if you pay with XRM (or other crypto shit)
- Iceshrimp: no. The dev is random.
- Hubzilla: why not. But doesn't work properly with my yunohost setup.
- BonFire: why not. But nobody knows it. There is no mobile app so far, but it's planned.
- Akkoma: why not, but it's he'll to install.
- Gotosocial: why not. But there is no UI, need to use phanpy, phanpy doesn't have mobile app and needs to be pinned on the screen. Other mobile apps take GTS in charge though. Haven't found anything bad until now.
- Hollo: why not, but when it will be on Yunohost, otherwise I don't want to use a specific service (railway, as apparently it's the fastest way to install it)
- Snac2: why not, probably the simplest to set up, lightweight. But need an nginx to point the domain on the software, and need a reverse proxy.

A partir de esta semana estará funcionando en nuestros servidores, además de la instancia de Mastodon Uruguay, un relay activitypub. ¿Que es un relay? Es un servidor intermediario entre instancias del fediverso, que envía y recibe publicaciones "públicas" desde y para los servidores que estan suscritos al relay, sin importar si las instancias estén federando con esa cuenta o instancia.
Actualmente se dá el caso, por la arquitectura granular del fediverso, que haya cuentas que realicen publicaciones con visibilidad pública, que no aparecen en instancias amigas, por el simple hecho de que no hay nadie de la instancia suscrito a esa cuenta. Si las cuentas publican utilizando #hashtags, podrían llegar igual, porque los hashtags se federan, pero si no lo hace, esa cuenta seguramente no aparezca en los muros de federada de otras instancias. Cuando una instancia se suscribe a un relay, envía todas las publicaciones con visibilidad pública al relay y recibe de éste, las publicaciones con visibilidad "pública" de otras instancias.
Es una forma de potenciar el intercambio y el flujo de publicaciones entre instancias para agrandar el fediverso visible. Existen muchos servidores relay, pero generalmente están en el norte. Los servidores relay consumen recursos y ancho de banda por lo que muchas veces solo se admiten instancias manualmente que cumplan con ciertos criterios, como por ejemplo, estar en alguna región geográfica, ser instancias temáticas o comunidades específicas.
Es por esto que para poner la frutilla de la torta luego de la migración nuestra instancia a un servidor dedicado y mejora de los servicios en general, que decidimos montar nuestro propio relay cuyo fin será potenciar el fediverso latinoamericano.

Si quieren suscribir vuestra instancia al relay activitypub, deben contactar a @j3j5 o @admin por privado, desde las cuentas admin de la instancia. Solo agregaremos por el momento, instancias latinas. La URL del relay para agregar en la consola de administración de Mastodon es https://relay.mastodon.uy/inbox

Even more than Gleam community the AS/AP based fediverse faces existential threats where it comes to the promise to lead us towards "the future of social networking", a peopleverse. And #AI poses high danger risks that must be known, so we can anticipate and mitigate them timely.
But above all we have to find ways to constructively collaborate with each in this chaotic grassroots environment we are part of.
#Collaboration and #cocreation at scale, organic growth and sustainable evolution are applied research areas of Social coding commons, where participants add value while working on their own solutions, following their self-interests in alignment with those of other people

Note btw, that for the most part algorithms are not causing the issue of bad integrations between apps. These are due to the pragmatic nature in which our current app-centric fediverse evolves, i.e. by means of post-facto interoperability. Here app developers focus on getting app features on the wire, and whomever first succeeds in making their new custom protocol extension to become popular, becomes the de-facto standard for that feature. And everyone else should "follow the leader" or push themselves out of mainstream fediverse adoption, into their own app niche.
This is not a sustainable path, and I am among years-long advocates that we should do better in how we collectively evolve the fedi, so that it can truly become the social networking of the future. See also my posts from last week, like:

There have been many experiments with adding simple ActivityPub support to static blogs, enabling authors to publish their blog into the fediverse to be followed and get commented on. Some of these experimenters have documented what they did, and I've started a list of examples here;

I think we also have to be careful and gauge the extent to which we get informed on problems by the way we shaped our own bubble / echo chamber over time.
Today for instance I sent a poll and got astoundingly and delightful positive responses on how people experience #fediverse..
I intend to follow up with another poll. But the poll results already show a new paradigm of social networking that #fediverse which Social experience design calls #PersonalSocialNetworking. On the fedi you are in control over your own #SocialExperience by carefully curating your social graph.
