Progress report on my #activitypub server I'm writing because I'm bored at my in-laws':
I'm back home again. Haven't given up, just postponed it a bit.
Content warning:meta, Bluesky/AP/Mastodon, social media
The reason Mastodon-flavor ActivityPub has been stagnant for most of the last decade is the only people who take the lingering cultural and structural issues seriously are working on what comes _next_
It really ought to concern anyone who still believes in this place that AP doesn't have its own event to match AtmosphereConf. There was exactly one over half a decade ago. All the energy at the 2026 event was exponential starting from the 2025 event. The PLC directory is headed to the independent org announced there. The IETF has the protocol. It's happening, right now.
If you're looking at Bluesky, you're looking at where the puck is, not where it's going.
You want more people to use AP? Stop complaining about people building on and using AT and start trying to understand why they are. I've been saying this for years now and nothing's changed on this side.

How to Install #Pleroma on #Ubuntu #VPS (5 Minute Quick-Start Guide)
This article provides a guide demonstrating how to install Pleroma on Ubuntu VPS.
What is Pleroma?
Pleroma is a free, open-source, self-hostable microblogging server that speaks the #ActivityPub federation protocol—so your users can interact with people on other #Fediverse platforms (e.g., Mastodon) while you keep full control over your server ...

(NOT GAY!!!)
@res260 I see; the ideas are related. I think the tendency towards compassion, understanding, and shared values should be a part of Mastodon's (and the Fediverse's) branding. I think people will like it here.
Beyond that, how to be a part of this should be part of our larger proselytizing, along with #Linux and #FOSS.
(Also, #ActivityPub kicks ass.)
Tweaked my #wordpress #activitypub config to use only the Blog as the Actor, instead of both Blog and Author. Now, the Blog actor federates posts directly, rather than boosting posts from each Author.
Has anyone else tried this? Did it cause any issues with boosted Author posts that were previously federated?
Would I need to “repost” all previously federated content for it to appear under the Blog Actor?

Does anyone have a good #ActivityPub integration for #Hugo? I'd like a link to posts to be published and then show comments on the blog. I've seen a few people get it to work.
Connecting Self-Hosted WP Site to Tags.pub
Yesterday I shared Discover more of the Fediverse with tags.pub in my Pook-Emu Bee links for the day. The post introduces a new feature for the ActivityPub for WordPress plugin: Subscribing a site to the tags.pub relay for hashtag boosting. It provides the following instructions for self-hosted WordPress sites such as this one: For self-hosted WordPress sites, head to Settings → ActivityPub → Settings and scroll to the Relay section. Add one of these URLs: Inbox: […]https://social.emucafe.org/naferrell/connecting-self-hosted-wp-site-to-tags-pub-04-03-26/
