This is kinda interesting article about how #ATProto works. So, instead of actor-based architecture, as in #Activitypub, it detaches and abstracts storage layer: you have universal «folder with files» you can easily host, and different apps can read/write files from/to it
It's... interesting. From one side, it allows more interoperability (like, true one-account system). But from the other side, this approach have one great weakness: you, by default, don't own the *app* you're bringing your files to. And hosting an app is not so easy
So, it's like using cloud subscription Photoshop. Yeah, you can backup
«standard» .psd files to your PC, but this won't really help if Adobe decides to mess you up

Now that the Blacksky appview is a thing, (and hopefully other appviews emerge as well) it would be great if an instance/appview level bridge was possible?
