ways in which being a fediverse instance admin is a lot like being a cyberpunk edgerunner
• largely thankless job
• steadily upgrading hardware is necessary
• burnout is a certainty
• failure is guaranteed eventually
• it's just about how long you can keep going
• everything only ever lasts for so long
• you don’t make a name for yourself by how you live... but by how you die (aka whatever fedi meta drama ends up shutting down your instance)

Dear fellow Admins!
I'm currently investigating a curious case of suspicious HTTP requests coming from several ASNs (mostly Brasil, China and France) and generating a lot of traffic. Traffic started around Aug 28.
The only common thing between therequests are the following **HTTP User Agents**:
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/127.0.0 Safari/537.36
and
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/112.0.0.0 Safari/537.36
Does anyone else experience this as well? Is there anything known about those UAs being used by bots?
Could you guys check your access logs and let me know if you experience this as well? Thanks! 🙇

Caso veja um post golpista, clique nos três pontinhos e denuncie. Não clique em mais nada no toot.
Algumas contas antigas estão aparecendo impulsionando o golpe e talvez sejam de vítimas que caíram na armadilha.
Nesse caso, a dica é visitar Preferências > Conta > Aplicativos autorizados e revogar qualquer app esquisito ou não reconhecido.
Ative também a autenticação por dois fatores em Preferências > Conta > Autenticação de dois fatores.
Você pode verificar sua conta, mas é opcional e não envolve dinheiro. Você faz isso por conta própria:

there's a specific fedi instance ending in .estate (you've probably seen it if you're a #mastoadmin or #fediadmin) that's been a hub for all sorts of problematic stuff. I have just sent an abuse report to:
- the domain registrar
- the nameserver operator, and
- the gTLD owner.
Many of these places will remove domains that violate their policies if alerted to them, so if you are a fedi admin and encounter a troll instance, I suggest reporting it to all those places.
