🚨 We are now exlcuding #AbuseReports coming from https://infosec.exchange.
📣 Users on this platform have submitted three bogus #abuse #reports against our users' posts with no proof of any rule violations and no actionable information thereby wasting our time.
⚠️ Users on infosec.exchange that still feel compelled to submit an abuse report may do so by emailing abuse@bofhllc.net.
As of now any and all future #AbuseReports from #InfosecExchange are now ignored.

So many of the absolute worst accounts I suspend should *never* have gotten past signup 😮💨
If your username contains a slur, hate-speech, or a well-known troll or dogwhistle reference, then it is a failure of your moderators and administration if that account ever sees the light of day.
If someone walks into your instance doing a Nazi salute and you don't slam the door in their face *hard* then you've let your community down.
I'm looking at you mastodon.social, mas.to, vivaldi.net, ...
Do you run your own PeerTube server? Would you like its videos to be listed on the official PeerTube search engine? If so, add your server's domain name on the index page at:
The search engine itself is at https://sepiasearch.org and is integrated on many servers.
(By the way, if you see a domain listed on the Sepia Search index that has nasty stuff on it, you can report it by emailing rt+abuse-peertube@framasoft.org )

Hey people who run their own PeerTube servers 👋
There is a little-publicised feature in PeerTube which lets servers subscribe to a shared "allowlist" of good servers to federate with. (You can also manually federate with additional servers that aren't on the list.)
Would there be any interest in setting up such a shared list so that PeerTube admins can easily find other nice/safe servers to federate with?

PSA: Our wonderful #MastoAdmin and #FediAdmin folx are doing their very hardest to keep stuff in check, and are overworked and underappreciated. The majority of icky stuff on here is only here because no one reported it, and then people get angry how mods won't take it down. Mods are people. They have FRIENDS and FAMILY and JOBS and other responsibilities. They cannot and should not be expected to just watch every post ever made 24/7. (1/2)
The self hoster's paradox...
Everything working well: "I'm bored, there's nothing to play with 🥱"
Something breaks: "This is not how I want to spend my Sunday night, why do I do this 😭"

Just finished pruning the list of #PinnedUsers in the #Explore section of the site.
If you haven't logged-in in more than a month I've probably removed you from the list that automatically gets suggested to new users.
I'd much rather the list be smaller and filled with regular posters and content creators than larger and recommending stale feeds. ❤️
You can check out the list of pinned/ recommended users here:

For an org focused on Trust & Safety, the @iftas publication "Responding to Self-Harm and Suicidal Content" makes some extremely harmful recommendations.
https://about.iftas.org/library/responding-to-self-harm-and-suicidal-content/
As moderators, we carry authority into our conversations that cannot be set aside. A moderator reaching out to someone facing suicidal ideation is often oppressive, pushing the afflicted away from networks of support.
NEVER call the cops on a minority in crisis!
This harmful document should be removed.
sometimes when i see that we have 100 active users on this instance i don't believe it. like it certainly doesn't feel like there're 100 different peeps actively posting on the local timeline at any given point. then i remember posting followers-only is a thing lmao

We run a glitch-soc server, that requires authentication to see profiles and such. It used to be the about page was unable to load anything unique to the server but now it *almost* works: https://artcrimes.gay/about
Hilariously it doesn't actually show the about now, but everything else is getting called correctly and can load.
Anyone know how to fix? I try looking it up but the mix of words ends up with just irrelevant crap

Going up to $2.00 per 1000 messages means I'll likely start getting billed if $1.00 is their threshold for "don't bill". Probably doing this to start billing accounts they haven't been able to yet like blimps.xyz.
I'm not up much on any alternatives with a low spam ranking. Not a big deal cost-wise here; the Vultr node is the highest cost by far at $36 for the node plus $9 for the ElasticSearch and LibreTranslate node. But still a change that may impact others more.
