Dank #ActivityPub Plugin ist alles, was man auf der Website postet auch im Fediverse. Für das @bcki habe ich das so gemacht. Die Infos müssen sowieso auch auf der Website stehen. Warum sollten sie dann nicht zusätzlich auch noch in einem Social Network landen?
In Zeiten von LLMs sind Websites wieder extrem wichtig, denn aus Instagram-Posts trauen sich OpenAI & Co nicht, einfach die Infos zu klauen. Wer in ChatKIs stattfinden will, braucht eine gut gepflegte Website.
Wer Menschen ohne Instagram-Account erreichen will, braucht eine gut gepflegte Website.
Und die ist mit 3 Klicks im Fediverse und sammelt Likes.

I wonder if you could use/abuse Mastodon polls (FEP-9967) to distribute posts that provide near-real-time status updates (I'm thinking about severe weather alerts but I'm sure there are other use cases)?
Create a poll with an expiry far in the future and a token set of options (ideally just one—"Do you opt in?"—but poll implementations seem to require at least two).
Nothing seems to prevent the content of a poll from changing—and this is the key insight. The FEP says, "The type of a poll (single choice / multiple choices) and its options might be changed at any time. In that case the author of the poll MUST reset the vote counts." So broadcast updates via the content.
It would be a lightweight way to follow a single item without following the actor, built on top of implementations that already exist.

As for me, I do miss old YouTube #gaming content too.
I wish #video selfhosting was easier and cheaper, and that software like #PeerTube had vastly better social features. The biggest issue PeerTube has is content discovery. Nobody knows where to find consistent high-quality content, and trash and spam is everywhere you look. That's why nobody spends time browsing on the platform, which in turn disincentivises high-quality content creation.
A video platform that rightfully refuses to implement content recommendation algorithms must rely on word of mouth for people to find and follow good content, which requires community building between content creators and the audience.

PeerTube has nearly zero social features, though. No text posts, no timelines, no polls, no channel discussion/fan forums, nothing. Right now you need to communicate with your viewers off-site, with a completely different #Fedi account, despite PeerTube being #ActivityPub compatible! That's offputting and cumbersome.

AFAICT #ATproto thinks of the PDS like a website. They are decentralized like the web cause lots of fully independent PDSs exist like lots of independent websites. Having very few relays or app views is fine like it's ok that other things on the web are more centralized. DNS, search engines, email etc.
Yea no.
Social media is not about content but connections. What gets shown and can be boosted. The ability to go viral. Control over that must be decentralized.

Creo que cuando añadan lo de poder citar y alguna cosilla menor que le hago uso (como puede ser la edicion en Markdown en Akkoma puede convertirse en mi cliente por defecgo de Activitypub en Android
