So someone found the cause of the YouTube viewpocalypse. As was suspected, it was adblock, specifically EasyList.
On August 10 they updated the list from blocking Third-Party Hit Counters to include YouTube's official Hit Counters... Because the view counting API also sends telemetry that invades your privacy.

Anyone notice how the most popular show on #YouTube, #TheAmazingDigitalCircus, unlike its competitors, doesn't:
• Feel the need to add copious amounts of uncensored and explicit profanity and gore (unlike Sprunki and Terrible Mouse)
• Add unnecessary sexual innuendos and explicit NSFW scenes to seem more "adult" (unlike Shappysway and some Gacha Life creators)
• Act all in-your-face and shock people for laughs (unlike Happy Tree Friends, some creepypastas, and others)
And any remaining adult themes in the show is either always playfully censored or toned down to make it more platable for all audiences.
And yet I still see kids on the internet being in favor of consuming other media that is more blatantly for adults than anything else, while labeling #TADC as "cringe".
I don't get it. *sigh*
