A critical arbitrary file upload vulnerability (CVE-2026-1357, CVSS 9.8) was discovered in the WPvivid Backup & Migration plugin, which is installed on over 800,000 WordPress sites.
The flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to upload arbitrary files, potentially achieving remote code execution and full site takeover.
Update to version 0.9.124. Wordfence Premium users received firewall protection on January 22.

I still need to rethink my web host.
Siteground is really very good but too expensive and no data centre in Canada. They also use Google Cloud which makes me very uncomfortable.
The WordPress theme I use is resource intensive so I may need to rethink that too.

Today I got a pop-up on Bluesky that they just added drafts. I chuckled bc I post to Bluesky via #Activitypub + Tusky / #Wordpress so I’ve already been using drafts for abt a year. I’ve also got scheduled posts which Bluesky will likely never add.

Backups sind ein wenig wie Versicherungen: ziemlich langweilig, bis man sie braucht.
Wir haben uns etwas Zeit genommen, unsere Backupstrategie zu überarbeiten.
Und weil wir Open Source lieben, liegt der komplette Code dazu jetzt auf GitHub. Kein fertiges Produkt, eher ein Blick in unsere Werkstatt.

Trotz alledem steckt in der aktuellen KI-Debatte auch emanzipatorisches Potential.
Konkretes Beispiel: Aktive Erschließung von Inhalten in #Wordpress über ein Textresonanz AddOn ermöglichen. Ich finde es sehr cool! #FediLZ
(Auch für #OER relevant, weil solch eine Freigabe von Inhalten für mich Teil einer offenen Bildungspraxis ist).
