.... .... Add the fact that #WhatsApp stores and discloses who you chat with, and the picture is dire.
đ€ #Apple and #Google disclose backed-up WhatsApp messages to third parties thousands of times per year. Meanwhile, #Telegram hasnât disclosed a single byte of usersâ messages in its entire 12+ year history đŹ
â ïž #WhatsAppâs âEnd-to-end encryption by defaultâ claim is a giant consumer #fraud.
đ ~95% of private messages on WhatsApp end up in plain-text backups on Apple/Google servers â not E2E-encrypted. Backup encryption is optional, and few people enable it â let alone use strong passwords.
đEven if you encrypt your WhatsApp backups with a strong password, your messages still end up in unencrypted cloud backups â because 90%+ of the people you message havenât done the same. ...
... ....
đ€„ #WhatsAppâs âencryptionâ may be the biggest consumer #fraud in history â deceiving billions of users. Despite its claims, it reads usersâ messages and shares them with third parties.
#Telegram has never done this
â and never will đ€

Microsoft Warns of WhatsApp Attachments spreading Backdoor on Windows PCs.
đŸThe scam arrives as a simple message on WhatsApp, but it carries a hidden danger designed to take over personal computers.đŸ
According to Microsoft researchers, the trouble starts when a user receives a message containing a Visual Basic Script [VBS] file. For your information, this is a type of computer code that can run various tasks on Windows. If a person clicks on this file, it starts a chain reaction that allows hackers to control the computer from a distance.
âïžâThe campaign relies on a combination of social engineering and living-off-the-land techniques. By combining trusted platforms with legitimate tools, the threat actor reduces visibility and increases the likelihood of successful execution,â researchers wrote in Microsoftâs blog post.âïž

Hacker attack on Booking.com: personal data of some users stolen.
Trouble for Booking.com and its users. A hacking attack has hit the online agency for booking accommodations. The platform itself confirmed this, having informed a portion of its users via email. âAt Booking.com, we are committed to ensuring the security and protection of our guestsâ data. In that spirit, we are writing to inform you that unauthorized third parties may have been able to access some information related to your reservation,â the message reads. The agency adds that stolen data may include names, email addresses, addresses, phone numbers, and âany information you may have shared with the property.â
So far, it appears that usersâ payment data has been spared. However, a person contacted by TechCrunchâs specialist website confirmed receiving a phishing message via WhatsApp two weeks ago that included âreservation details and personal information.â A spokesperson for Booking.com, speaking to the Guardian, reassured the platformâs customers: âNo access was gained to financial information.â The Amsterdam-based company then informed its users that it had changed the PIN codes for reservations already made and involved in the attack.
Booking.com has, however, not disclosed how many people were actually affected by the hacking attack. A number that risks being high, considering that the company has on its list more than 30 million accommodation facilities worldwide.
