Administracja Donalda Trumpa chce zlikwidować regulacje, które nakładały limity emisji gazów cieplarnianych m.in. przez elektrownie i pojazdy. Plany poparto raportem, do którego przygotowania zatrudniono osoby słynące z podważania faktów naukowych o zmianie klimatu. Agencja Ochrony Środowiska (EPA) w USA ogłosiła w ostatnich dniach, że zaproponuje wycofanie tzw. Endangerment Finding. To dokument przyjęty w 2009 r. (a więc za rządów Baracka Obamy), w którym uznano, że sześć głównych gazów cieplarnianych stanowi zagrożenie dla zdrowia publicznego – z ich powodu ludzie chorują, a ekstremalne zjawiska pogodowe stają się częstsze i intensywniejsze.
